This one line feels like an aphorism. Who do "they" refer to? If it is a universal, in what ways could we expand this poem to build that identity?

This one was lost on me at first, really. I could have read it as a take on the "grass is always greener," too. It's a strange juxtaposition to me--Beyonce and E.A. Robinson. I feel like you could rework this and leave out Beyonce, because the Richard Cory poem says it all.

i was a bit lost at first with this poem but it has such a nice short sweet cadence to it. i needed to sit with it. i think knowing who "they" refers to would help a lot.
