title: when your cat's run away
Along the sidewalk we searched Beatrice was her name Cats would be just another thing for me to take care of Donned my mother Effectively ending my pleas Fortunately the neighbor Got one
He decided to name her Beatrice Instead of locking her away Jammed between reams of paper and out-dated books Keeping her hidden Let's let her roam the backyard, how's that sound? Moving from patch of dandelions to cultivated tulips Never sleeping too long Only after school were we allowed to Play with her
Quietly we still searched along the sidewalk Resting a minute or two to see Sinking along The treetops the sun Underbelly up Vanished Waning into the moon Xeroxed copies of Beatrice fell from the streetlight You kids can go home, I'll keep looking, thank you Zombie-like his brain only focused on her.

There's a real nice extension of mood and voice going on within this form exercise for you, Lawrence.

Yes, a cat poem! I love "underbelly up" because it's creative language, and I picture all that cute fluff basking in the sun

Is it "donned" or "doffed?" Either way, is this the right word here? Of the two, I would say "doffed," because the mother is putting the kibosh on getting a cat... Can more people use these words though, because I like them.
