All of my ex-boyfriends I met online because I never have time to socialize. Cupid didn’t choose me to meet my soulmate in a crowd-- dating, for me, has always been an online adventure. Every ex had a reason for being anti-commitment, yet fucking was never an issue. Greg got cheated on twice, all bitches are the same, Howard hit on anything with a pulse, can’t be tied down to one, Ian ‘invented’ excuses, it’s not you, it’s me. Jack just wanted to make his music, not to be distracted by feelings. Kris couldn’t decide between me or her, don’t make me choose. Leaving them was a cleanse for my soul. My heart learned how to detect their type right away. Not a single player tricked their way into our lives. Or so I thought. Pat wrote me all the perfect things, Qdoba for our first date? Rita’s for dessert? Snowmobiling up in New York tomorrow? Take my dog with us for our weekend getaway? Undoubtedly, I was in love, visibly infatuated with every inch of his being. Who knew love at first message was such a thing? Xylophones will play as I walk down the aisle. Yet, something about him doesn’t seem to be real. Zzzz...I woke up.

OOH you're naming the men and this exercise is making you SUPER specific with places. This is such a fun exercise. I like your use of Z, that was definitely my hardest one as well!

I was wondering if you were going to go this route for the Abcedarian. I think you could almost use more men's names and make it a hyper-commentary of relationships. That said, humor and tone at the fore of the poem.

That said, humor and tone at the fore of the poem. I agree. When you started naming names, I thought that would continue longer, and I think it would be natural for the poem so use that as the main structure.

That said, humor and tone at the fore of the poem. I’m wasn’t sure if it would be too repetitive if I kept doing guy names. Glad the humor is working

For the sake of a "hyper-commentary" poem, an abecedarian list of names would be pretty cool, but then it would almost read too much like a laundry list, unless that is something you'd want to go for. Undoubtedly, with the dating sites, there's no shortage of names to flick through and comment on. A creeper list from one of these sites in this ABC form would be pretty damn funny/scary.

Vanessa the humor is working your poems this week have made me smile just reading them and some of them have literally made me laugh out loud. in this poem i am really digging the naming i agree you could name more, i love that each has a specific horror attached to them i think that's what makes the names work.

Florida Georgia Line is my favourite country music band. Headliners Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley are those people that can make anyone sing along with them. It's the reason I like to visit their shows. And - that's surprisingly beatiful - in 2019 they have CAN'T SAY IT AIN'T COUNTRY TOUR which covers all the US towns and cities. For concert info visit Florida Georgia Line Tour Dates 2020.
